Rodney Malpert – Guide to Chess Mastery Lecturer
Rodney Malpert, a Nebraska Chess Hall of Fame inductee, leverages his more than four decades as a chess player to help others become better players through his online tutorial. Rodney Malpert began playing when chess grew in popularity in Nebraska during the 1970s.
Among other chess accolades, Mr. Malpert won a trophy for the biggest upset involving unrated players at the Cornhusker State Games. He also presented the Best Move Award in the Chess Open. More recently, he helped players at the 2022 Cornhusker State Games Chess Tournament and was instrumental in bringing the Nebraska Hall of Fame Chess Celebration to Lincoln in 2024, where he was inducted into the Nebraska Hall of Fame.
In Senior Master Rod Malpert’s Guide to Chess Mastery: Books and Online Training, he shares insight into which books on the subject aspiring players should read. He also covers how to play the game, from the beginning to the endgame. His online master class offers tips for using online platforms to help players improve their game. The course caters to both beginning and advanced players.
Mr. Malpert's enthusiasm for the game has led to him being called a chess visionary. He has reached a rating of 2,400 in a game where average players reach 1,200 and master players reach 2,200.
